Samatat Sanskriti started its journey in 1997 as a cultural organization of likeminded youths and performing arts enthusiasts of Uttarpara and of the vicinity. Samatat started its endeavour in theatre in the year 2000 by organizing a children's theatre workshop in association with Kolkata based theatre group Sudrak. Under their supervision Samatat produced its first play "Arshi Desher Porsira" casting the students of the children's theatre workshop. In this very year, Samatat registered as an organization.
